Welcome
My name is Roland, I am a BACP Accredited counsellor. I have been counselling for over 16 years and currently working in private practice in Beckenham, South London.
I am qualified as an integrative counsellor combining aspects of person-centred, CBT and psychodynamic counselling in my work (see below).
I worked for over five years as a lead counsellor in NHS GP practice settings
and in a long-term counselling service for clients with more complex needs.
In addition, I worked in a specialist trauma service for over four years, working with adult survivors of childhood abuse, domestic abuse and sexual assaults experienced at any age. I have had extensive additional training and experience in working with many types of trauma.
I became a BACP* Accredited counsellor in 2013, a standard of proficiency within my professional body.
I worked as a qualified adoption counsellor for Barnardos for 2 years.
I am also currently a contractor for a large EAP provider in addition to insurance company and other directly contacted work.

Therapy Approaches
Person-Centred
Reflecting on and discovering about who we really are and would wish to be. Reflecting on whether we have a good enough balance between how much we follow our own ideas and those of others?
Psychodynamic
Reflecting on our past experiences and how we may be influenced and unhelpfully affected by these in the present day. Discovering these impacts allows us the opportunity to act more independently of them.
Cognitive Behavoural (CBT)
Reflecting on how our unhelpful or negative automatic thought processes are activated in certain situations resulting in unhelpful emotions or behaviours and help us to replace these and so change our responses.
Integrative
I combine these approaches (1-3) allowing us to better understand and change how our past experience impacts our sense of self and relationship with others in the present, improving our self-worth and functioning.
Trauma work
My integrative approach is incorporated into a standard three stage trauma counselling model: stabilisation, processing and integration. This involves providing additional support through psycho-education and specific trauma strategies and grounding tools incorporated into conventional therapy.
Let's Talk
The first step in therapy is talking. Let's find a time where we can meet and talk about what's on your mind.
